Next-gen Elantra N to Have 2.5-liter Turbo

Our folks at CarExpert said a 2.5-turbo gasoline engine its coming to Hyundai’s next-generation high-performance Elantra N sedan after an interview with Hyundai N Research and Development Advisor Albert Biermann.

“Technically, we are ready to continue [with internal-combustion N cars],” said executive technical advisor Albert Biermann. “Before I left Namyang, I made sure the Elantra can go on with the 2.5 turbo. It fits in there and everything.” “Australia is safe, US is safe, but someone needs to make a decision, right? And markets other than Australia, forget them. They’re all dreaming on the EV cloud, EV heaven, they don’t care for combustion cars.” he added.

Albert Biermann joined Hyundai Motor in April 2015 after working at BMW for 31 years. Three years later, he was appointed as the president and head of Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D division. He played a key role in creating the High-Performance N business unit until his retirement in late 2021. He has served as a general advisor since that.

Currently, the Elantra N has a 2.0-litre turbo gasoline engine and up to 276 horsepower. Equipped with the larger 2.5-litre turbo gasoline engine it could reach the 300 hp barrier.

Hyundai Motor launched the 2024 Elantra N in the United States as of yesterday. The 2024 Hyundai Elantra N offers a new front design and grille, new bumpers, updated headlights and new rear diffuser.

Also, a new 15 kg-lighter 19-inch forged wheel with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires were added. Enhanced engine-mount membranes have also been introduced to reduce vibration. Includes additional modified power steering software and a rear suspension that uses urethane instead of rubber to improve damping.

It also installed a new low-brasions universal joint, and adjusted the gearbox to give it a more direct feel. The Elantra N is available with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The 2024 Elantra N price has not yet been announced, but the current model costs around $32,900.
