The Lamborghini Revuelto made its debut in March this year. The new flagship from Sant ‘Agata raises the bar set by its predecessor, the Aventador, even higher. A lot higher, in fact. While the Aventador had to make do with 691 hp, the new model packs no less than 1001 hp.
Journalists have had a go in Lamborghini’s latest hybrid supercar and the reviews have just started pouring in. Top Gear describes the Revuelto as “exciting and friendlier to drive.” Piston Heads thinks it is “much more forgiving to drive”.
Those who have driven older Lamborghini would attest that the “raging bulls” of the past were certainly exciting, but would bite you if you weren’t careful. Clearly, Lamborghini has come a long way since the days of the Countach and Diablo.
The Revuelto does carry forward some of the traditions, especially in the design department. The supercar has Lambo’s signature wedge-shaped profile, with aggressive lines all over. The interior has been modernized too. It is said that the cabin is a lot comfier than its predecessors and is well equipped with the latest tech as well.
The Revuelto is based on a “monofuselage” – a carbon fibre monocoque that is said to be 10% lighter and 25% stiffer than the Aventador’s chassis. It is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 hybrid powertrain. The ICE alone develops 813 hp @ 9250 rpm and 535 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission along with three electric motors – two on the front axle and the third paired with the gearbox. The combined output is 1001 hp. A 3.8 kWh battery pack is situated in the transmission tunnel between the two seats. It enables the car to run in full EV mode for about 6 miles. This plug-in hybrid supercar offers 13 driving modes in total.
