Vice Grip Garage’s 1980s Built Chevelle Drag Car: First Passes In 35 Years Are INCREDIBLE!

This Chevelle is OG cool and although it was built in the 1980s and has been off the road for decades, it recently hit the dyno and made some noise. If you missed that video or the one where Derek drove it cross country to get home, the link below will get you there. Now it’s time for the track and you just might be surprised by what this sucker does on its first runs down the track. Check it out, cause it’s awesome.
This is one badass OG drag car and we love it. As McTaggart wrote about when Derek first got this ride and added it to the Vice Grip Garage fleet, this Chevelle couldn’t have come along at a better time when you consider that the Independence Chevelle had just been retired. This new car is throwback cool and I can tell you that Derek was genuinely excited about this one. I talked to him just before he was to go and try to get it home, and he was laughing at how this one might go.
I love this style of car, and I know that some folks think that driving a car like this cross country is absurd, but I own a Camaro like this and love to drive it. Sure it isn’t a 75 mph highway cruiser, but who cares, it sure is fun to hit the loud pedal in.
