– SIX-TIME CHAMP ADLEM LOOKING TO CONQUER KYALAMI

Mackie Adlem returns to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit this week for the opening championship round of the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars. Adlem, the six-time defending champion, will join fellow competitors as one of several supporting race categories to the Joburg Kyalami 9-Hour event.

Adlem, in his Jaguar XKR, will be the sole Adlem Auto Racing entrant for the prestigious event, hoping to take a double victory in contrast to the last Mobil 1 V8 Supercars outing at Kyalami (February 2022) that saw the first race cancelled on a Friday afternoon due to a heavy highveld thunderstorm. Overnight rain again threatened the running of the race. However, the race got underway with no further threat of rain. Adlem led the race before a brake issue would see him coast to a fifth-place finish and a fifth consecutive title.

“After a lengthy break, I am looking forward to a new season, both spiritually and on the track. Kyalami is a special place, and to have the opportunity to race there is a true blessing. In a somewhat dramatic final race for the 2021 championship, I was able to claim my fifth title at the circuit and celebrate with my family. It remains one of my favourite circuits, and I cannot wait for Thursday morning,” said Adlem.
