Kia Carnival passengers show why [Video]
Sunroofs have become a big craze in India lately. Even though the Indian subcontinent does not have the perfect weather conditions to use the sunroofs, there are many who see the sunroof as a dealbreaker when they decide on a new car. Sometimes, people install aftermarket sunroofs in their vehicles simply to stand out from the sunroof and feel important. It is a really stupid idea and this video of Kia Carnival passengers shows why.
The video shows two people standing out of the sunroof of the Kia Carnival on a narrow street. Since Kia offers dual sunroofs with the Carnival, two can go through the sunroof easily. It is likely that they intended to make viral videos on the Internet. While the Carnival was speeding both the people started posing for the camera.

However, due to an obstacle, the driver of the car applies sudden brakes. Without anticipating the sudden brakes, both the people who were out through the sunroof smashed their faces against the roof of the car. It sure must have hurt them but it could have been worse. Both of them could have been thrown out of the moving vehicle causing serious injuries. Such incidents have happened in the past.
While the video ends soon after, it captures the shell-shocked expressions of both of them. Well, we do hope that they have learned the lesson and would not try again to come out of the sunroof again.
Getting out of the sunroof is illegal
Getting out of a sunroof or any window of a moving car is regarded as doing a stunt on public roads and is illegal. In fact, all the passengers in India must wear seatbelts in a moving car. Not doing so may attract a hefty fine from the police. In the past, there have been instances when the police have issued challans to motorists who have come out of the sunroof on public roads.
What is the use of sunroofs?
Sunroofs are designed for air circulation. In India where most cities are highly polluted, the use of sunroofs does not make any sense and that is why people think that these are designed to go through and stand to allow the wind hit your face.
Keeping the windows open at high speed can cause the air to directly hit your eyes, which may cause problems. The sunroof is designed to recycle the air without much wind disturbance. However, most people use the opening to stand out from the vehicle. This is extremely dangerous, especially for children. Sudden braking may throw them out. Also, debris like small stones from other vehicles may hit them and cause injuries. Electric wires also pose a grave threat to such people hanging out the roof.
