1,000,000 KTM bikes: The milestone was achieved in Indi…

The Pierer Mobility Group has announced that the 1,000,000th KTM motorcycle has been produced.

The Austrian brand’s latest milestone motorcycle was built in India, an indication of the significance of its relationship with Bajaj Auto which is now in its 16th year.

Understandably, the 1,000,000th motorcycle to be branded ‘KTM’ was not a high-performance model, rather it was a KTM 390 Adventure, according to Yahoo! Finance. It was built in the Bajaj Auto factory in Pune, India, which has been manufacturing 125cc-390cc KTM, and equivalent Husqvarna models, since 2011. Pune is considered one of the industrial and education hotspots of India.

Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director & CEO of Bajaj Auto Limited, said: “Manufacturing has traditionally been one of our strengths, and the one-millionth KTM milestone is a testimony to that.

“When we inked our partnership in 2007, we set ourselves the goal of developing innovations as strategic partners to make KTM’s brands known worldwide. One million has been achieved. There are many more to go.”

Stefan Pierer, CEO of Pierer Mobility AG: “This is indeed a momentous occasion for both Pierer Mobility and Bajaj Auto.  Our success is based on four pillars: globalisation, constant innovation, motivated employees and established brands. As Europe’s leading manufacturer of powered two-wheelers, we have the right partner in Bajaj with the same passion to deliver such successful services together. This gives us confidence for the future.”

This is the second major achievement for KTM in 2023, after winning the Dakar Rally for the 19th time with Kevin Benavides, who clinched his second title. Toby Price finished second in the rally to confirm a KTM 1-2, and the Pierer Mobility Group completed the podium with Husqvarna’s Skyler Howes.
