55 years AMG anniversary model

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the AMG brand, Mercedes-AMG presents a limited series of 55 Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series, exclusively for track use.

In 1967, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher founded the AMG brand. To mark this anniversary, Mercedes-AMG is launching a limited series of 55 Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series exclusively for track use.

The 55 examples are hand-assembled in Affalterbach and feature a “1 of 55” plaque on the inside that identifies each AMG GT Track Series as a unique example of this special series.

With 734 hp and 850 Nm, the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series is the most powerful customer sports car developed by Mercedes-AMG. It is mated to a Hewland HLS 6-speed sequential gearbox with adjustable differential transfers the power to the rear axle.

The gearbox is mounted on the rear axle as on the other versions in transaxle configuration, and the connection between the engine and the gearbox is via a carbon fibre driveshaft.
Suspension is with four-stage adjustable Bilstein dampers. Each level has a high-speed and low-speed setting in the rebound and compression levels and also allows adjustment of the ground clearance. The anti-roll bars are also individually adjustable.

Specific to the GT3 and GT4 class models, the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series has a racing specific traction control and a motorsport ABS each adjustable on 12 levels (level 1 – AC/TCS active at maximum level, level 11 – AC/TCS at minimum action, level 12 – off). The brakes have steel discs with a diameter of 390 mm at the front and 355 mm at the rear.

For a reduced weight, the bonnet, wings, sills, rear door and the rear apron are made of carbon fibre. Thus, the kerbweight is only 1,400 kg compared to 1,615 kg for the AMG GT Black Series.

Being a racing car, the Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series features a roll cage made of high tensile steel which is bolted to the aluminium sparce frame. The driver is protected by a carbon cell which is suitable for taller drivers and the seats have five-point belts. The steering wheel is developed in conjunction with the sim racing experts at Cube Controls, has a wide range of adjustment and numerous control options. The dashboard includes a BOSCH DDU 11 programmable display.

The front spoiler and sills have blades at the bottom for increased downforce, and there are also carbon fins behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels to guide the airflow. The sills incorporate cooling ducts to ensure efficient brake cooling. The AMG GT Track Series features a dual diffuser at the rear and a rear spoiler that is mechanically adjustable  provides greater downforce at the rear axle.
There is also a large air intake in the bonnet which has both an aerodynamic and engine cooling role.

The AMG GT Black Series is equipped with 18-inch forged wheels, the usual size for GT racing cars, and the car is painted in MANUFAKTUR high-tech silver magno with red and anthracite design elements. The sale price is 369,000 euro plus VAT.
