Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept — Audi’s Best Looking Wagon

I previously said the Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept would debut tomorrow, March 17 at 7AM, because that’s what Audi USA’s Twitter account said. However, I accidentally lied to you, as the new e-tron concept was actually just revealed by Audi AG. So here it is, in all of its wagon-y goodness, the best looking wagon Audi’s ever produced.

This new Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept is obviously based on the A6 e-tron Concept sedan and shares the exact same dimensions. However, despite having the same length, width, wheelbase, and wheel track, the A6 Avant e-tron actually looks quite a bit different from its sedan sibling and it’s absolutely stunning.

Its silhouette is perfect, with its low, long, and lean shape, but its details are gorgeous, too. The angled D-pillar, the OLED taillight bar, the two pseudo-diffusers, the way its rear haunches flare subtly, and the killer roof spoiler all make the A6 Avant e-tron Concept among the most beautiful things Audi’s ever produced.

Under the skin, it’s the same as the A6 e-tron sedan, though. Which means it’s based on the same PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture, gets the same 800-volt technology, the same 270 kW charge speed, and even an identical powertrain. The latter of which is a dual-motor setup that makes 496 horsepower (350 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. According to Audi, it can reach 0-62 mph in under four seconds. Though, that will likely be a top-end model, either an Audi S6 Avant e-tron or RS6 Avant e-tron.

As for range, the A6 Avant e-tron’s 100 kWh battery pack will provide a maximum of 700 kilometers (435 miles) of range. That would give it among the highest ranges of any production electric car. Only the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S Long Range have more.

The Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept isn’t really any different from the sedan; mechanically it’s identical. However, the new body style is far better looking, while adding practicality, and that makes it the one to get. We can’t wait until a production version hits the road.
