The rumors were true, and the Yamaha Ténéré 700 family just got a little bigger, with the tuning brand adding its third variant of the popular ADV bike to its lineup.
As such, the 2022 Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid is an up-spec long-distance adventure machine with only one caveat – it is only coming to Europe.
Just like the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally, which was also a higher spec machine for only the European market, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid builds upon the Ténéré 700, but this time adds more features to make it suitable for globetrotting.
This starts with a dual fuel tank design, that has 23 liters (6.07 gallons) of capacity, and also includes 43mm KYB front forks with 230mm of travel and preload, compression, and rebound adjustability.
The rear shock has a new linkage, as well as 220mm of travel – all with an eye on soaking up big hits for riding where the sidewalk ends.
Other amenities include a flat two-piece seat shape, 5″ color TFT dash, Öhlins adjustable steering damper, easy to remove side deflectors and LED flashers, three-piece aluminum engine guard and radiator grill, and a new die-cast engine support system.
In short, Yamaha Motor has added back some of the features that hardcore ADV riders are looking for in machines that are going to see extensive travel, which also in-turn adds a layer of refinement that was missing from the Yamaha Ténéré 700 base model – though it also adds a 485 lbs wet weight in the process.
Of course, with more features comes more price tag, as well. As such, the 2022 Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid is priced at £11,600 in the UK, about £2,000 more than the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Raid. Other European pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but we would expect a similar €2,000 premium.
As for the likelihood of the Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid coming to the USA, that is anyone’s guess, but judging from Yamaha Motor USA’s response to the Ténéré 700 Rally, and its lack of statement now, we wouldn’t hold our breath on the World Raid coming to American soil…at least not this year.
