New 2023 Audi A5 Looks Exceptional Review!

2023 Audi A5 Style experts will find the Audi A5 Coupe and Cabriolet models more attractive than the A4 sedan while pragmatists will be pleased to know they require a bit of a compromise on practicality.

The A5’s two sophisticated, upscale and athletic body styles make it a great choice for luxury buyers who also enjoy driving.

The coupe and convertible are both powered by a 261-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired to standard all-wheel drive.

Those looking for more oomph should consider upgrading to an Audi S5 (reviewed separately) or perhaps a BMW 440i, but most drivers will find the A5’s powertrain very powerful for driving with passion.

An entertaining way of driving, turbo-four delivers great power, the coupe offers plenty of cargo space.
The cabin could use a few more luxuries, Audi charges extra for high-tech driver assistance, a manual transmission would increase the fun factor.
The A5 offers the practicality and premium curb appeal of the A4 sedan but as a more stylish two-door coupe or soft-top convertible.

The A5 lineup received a styling refresh last year, so the changes are minor. The new 19-inch wheel design is available with all-season tires.

The S-line coupe model adds a sports suspension as well as leather and microsuede upholstery.

The new Black Optic Plus package is also available on the S-line model and includes black exterior trim, matte black grille, and red brake calipers.

In the form of a regular A5, there is a relaxed vibe driving this Audi. It’s not tiring on long trips, and the well-weighted steering is comfortable.

After the road presents some challenging turns, A5 drivers can squeeze in and find that this Audi flows through the corners calmly and responsively.

The Audi S5 model is more focused on performance. They are fun to drive. The S5 Coupe can accelerate from rest to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.

The RS 5 Coupe, which rivals the BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe, takes just 3.7 seconds. Equipped with the Dynamic Plus package, the RS 5 Coupe has a top speed of 174 mph.

2023 Audi A5 Coupe: New Audi A5 2023

The Audi A5 Coupe falls into the class of two-door compact luxury coupes and offers seating for four adults, but goes way beyond that classification; looks beautiful, offers a lot of power, and is packed with premium technology.

2023 Audi A5

Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 261 horsepower which is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The A5 Coupe is up against rivals like the controversial new BMW 4 Series Coupe and the older, but still classy, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe.

This Audi delivers a great look, stunning interior, impressive performance, and usable luggage space at a lower price than the competition – in basic form – putting the four-ring brand in a prime spot.

If it’s the laid-back executive coupe you’re looking for, our A5 Coupe review reveals why Audi is the perfect fit for the job.

Changes to the Audi A5 Coupe: How is it different from the Audi A5 Coupe 2021?

After a 2020 refresh and the addition of mild hybrid technology in 2021, the A5 Coupe remains largely the same. All trims get the previously optional sports suspension which is nearly an inch off the ground as standard equipment and an additional 19-inch wheel design is available.

Android Auto is now also wireless. The optional Black Optic plan was replaced with the more expensive Black Optic Plus plan and added several features. Other plans and options have also been simplified.

2023 Audi A5 Coupe Exterior: Audi A5 Next Generation 2023

There’s no doubt that the Audi A5 Quattro Coupe is a car that looks good from any angle, and in our opinion, the standard S Line exterior body kit, which includes the bumper, badges, and side sill bars, adds an extra aggressive touch that makes it stand out, especially now the standard sports suspension keeps the car closer to the ground.

The base model features 18-inch dual-spoke five-star design wheels, LED headlamps with high beam assistance, and a panoramic sunroof.

Premium Plus adds matrix design LED headlights, while Prestige includes Audi laser light matrix LED headlights, plus animation effects for the headlights and taillights.

The $2,000 Black Optic Plus package on the top two trims adds dual-tone alloy wheels with a 19-inch five-sleeve design with all-season tires, gloss black exterior trim.

2023 Audi A5 Coupe Dimension

The A5 is classified as a compact executive coupe with dimensions similar to the BMW 4 Series Coupe and Infiniti Q60 Coupe.

The wheelbase spans 108.8 inches, and the coupe’s total length is 184.9 inches, which is three inches shorter than the BMW.

The A5 Coupe measures 53.9 inches high, and with the included mirror, 79.8 inches wide. The track at the front is 62.4 inches, and 61.7 inches at the rear. The curb weight comes in at 3,638 pounds.

  • Long 184.9 inches
  • Wheelbase 108.8 inches
  • Tall 54.0 inches
  • Max Width 72.7 inches
  • Front Width 62.5 inches
  • Back Width 61.7 inches
  • Curb weight 3,715.0 pounds

2023 Audi A5 Coupe Exterior

To highlight the curvy body lines of the 2-door A5, Audi offers eight different color options, some of which look great, while others fail to impress.

The only free options available are the Ibis White and Turbo Blue, both of which look pretty good. For the rest of the color range, you’ll need to get some extra dough out.

Colors such as District Green Metallic, Glacier White Metallic, Tango Red Metallic, Navarra Blue Metallic, Daytona Gray Pearl, and Mythos Black Metallic all retail for $595.

If we could do it, we’d get a two-door Audi A5 coupe in Daytona Gray pearls. For something very exclusive, Audi will paint your A5 an exclusive custom paint color for $3,900.

  • Daytona Gray Metallic
  • Metallic Green District
  • Glacier White Metallic
  • Metallic Blue Navarra
  • Metallic Red Tango
  • Black Metallic Myth
  • White Ibis
  • Blue Turbo

2023 Audi A5 Coupe Gas Mileage

With only one engine and transmission option, the Audi A5 coupe delivers the same fuel consumption across all trim levels.

The A5 strikes an excellent balance between performance and economy thanks to its small capacity 2.0-liter turbocharged engine.

When ridden on light feet, it will return decent fuel economy figures. The Audi A5 Coupe will deliver a gas mileage figure of 24/31/27 mpg on the city/highway/combination cycle, which is commendable.

The new BMW 4 Series Coupe will hit 25/34/28 mpg in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, but the AWD 4 Series will match the Audi A5 Quattro by returning 23/33/27 mpg.

  • With a 15.3-gallon fuel tank, the A5 will manage a maximum range of around 413 miles.
  • Fuel tank capacity 15.3 Gallons
  • Fuel Economy City/Hwy: 24/31 mpg

Baggage and Cargo A5 Coupe

We never expected the Audi A5 Coupe to offer tons of luggage and cargo space overall, but since the reduction in luggage space in 2020, the A5 Coupe has fallen behind the competition. Behind the back seat, you are greeted with 10.9 cubic feet of space.

That space can be increased by folding the rear seats, but you can still only fit two or three suitcases in there. The Mercedes C-Class Coupe offers slightly less with 10.5 cubic feet, while the BMW 4 Series dominates with 12 cubic feet of space.

Small items can be tucked away in front and back door pockets, but don’t expect a large water bottle to be wedged in there. The glove box is on the smaller side and will only fit a pair of sunglasses and a cell phone or two. Cup holders are also uncomfortable for some reason.

Audi A5 2023 Interior: Infotainment and Features of A5 Coupe

You get what you pay for here, and the spec sheet reads like a real premium car.

The base model receives features such as three-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming mirrors with digital compass, LED interior lighting, and heated front seats with eight-way power adjustment (and four-way power lumbar adjustment for the driver).

Premium Plus adds memory function for the driver’s seat, adaptive cruise control, top-view camera system, and direct detection steering wheel.

Prestige adds a heads-up display, traffic sign recognition and Matrix design LED headlights with a high laser beam. Driver assistance features include Audi’s basic and pre-sense city pre-sense.

2023 Audi A5 Coupe Infotainment

All Audi A5 Coupe models come standard with a large 10.1-inch touchscreen, which dominates the center console. We found that the lack of buttons on the dashboard caused driver distraction: you had to keep your head down on the screen every time you wanted to adjust.

The infotainment system includes natural language voice control, Audi smartphone interface with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto, dual front USB ports, Bluetooth streaming, and Audi connects CARE assistance and security services.

The standard sound system consists of 10 speakers and a six-channel amplifier with 180 watts of power.

Premium Plus introduces Audi’s 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display and SiriusXM radio. The Prestige trim adds a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 19 speakers and 755 watts of power.

A5 Coupe Problems and Reliability

The 2021 Audi A5 Coupe has been recalled three times by NHTSA. The problem is for the taillight wiring harness which lacks scuff protection, while others are related to the rear axle lock nut which may be damaged, and the seat belt lock retractor which may not work. No recall has yet been issued for the model at the time of writing.

Audi will cover the Coupe with a base warranty and a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain. Also includes a 12-year corrosion warranty and four-year roadside assistance.

  • Base: 4 years 50,000 Miles
  • Drive chain: 4 years 50,000 Miles
  • Corrosion: 12 years old Unlimited Miles
  • Hybrid / Electrical Components: 8 years 80,000 Mil
  • Roadside assistance: 4 Years Unlimited Miles

2023 Audi A5 Coupe A5 Safety Cup

Unfortunately, the model has not yet been reviewed by NHTSA. However, the agency evaluated the larger Audi A5 4-door Audi A5 Sportback 2023 which achieved a full five-star crash rating, suggesting that the two-door Coupe should be equally safe. The coupe also performed well for each crash-worthiness test from IIHS, although the headlights were rated as Marginal, Acceptable, or Good depending on the model.

Key Security Features

There are a plethora of safety features packed into every Audi A5 Coupe. All trim levels are equipped with six airbags, a rearview camera, and a tire-pressure monitor.

Driver assistance features on the base model include keyless start-stop, automatic windshield wiper, cruise control, Audi pre sense basic, high beam assist, and Audi pre sense city.

Premium Plus adds adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assistance, active lane assist, top-view camera system, front/rear parking assist, as well as Audi side and rear pre-understanding assistance, which includes rear traffic warning and vehicle exits.

Warning. Lastly, Prestige introduces a head-up display, laser beam technology, and traffic sign recognition.

Verdict: Is the Audi A5 Coupe a Good Car?

The Audi A5 Coupe does exactly what it says on the label. This is a beautiful car without a doubt. Whether it’s prettier than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is debatable, but it stands above the rest of the class with its head held high.

The interior of this car is very slick and feels as luxurious as the BMW 4 Series Coupe.

Nice interior space up front, but of course, it gets cramped at the back, and we wouldn’t recommend trying and pressing six feet in there. On the road, the A5 is a comfortable cruiser with a sporty touch but doesn’t overwhelm the overall driving experience.

It handles calmly and can even be considered fun when tossed with gusto. Performance from the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-banger is good and should be enough for most people. Cargo space is on the limited side but still comparable to competitors like the C-Class Coupe.

There are a lot of standard features on offer, and the driver assistance features are impressive, especially on the top two trims. The A5 Coupe is competitively priced and highly recommended.

How much does the Audi A5 Coupe cost?

US prices for the A5 two-door coupe are competitive when compared to the BMW 4 Series Coupe and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe. Pricing for the base Premium model starts at $45,600, which excludes taxes, registration, and a $1,045 destination fee.

Moving to Premium Plus will cost you $50,500. Finally, the top-tier Prestige costs $55,050. The price of the Audi A5 Coupe will exceed $60,000 if you choose Prestige and all available options.

Among other coupes sold in this segment, the newer BMW 4 Series starts at $45,800.

2023 Audi A5 Coupe Models

The Audi A5 Coupe lineup consists of three trims, namely Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. All models use an identical drivetrain: a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with 261 hp, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Quattro AWD.

The base Premium trim gets standard 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and LED headlamps with high beam assistance.

The gauges are analogous to the seven-inch color driver information screen in between and the MMI infotainment touchscreen measuring 10.1 and combining Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Audi’s basic pre-feel and city pre-feel driver assistance suites are included.

Premium Plus adds these features, matrix design LED headlights, dynamic turn signal, 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit gauge cluster, SiriusXM radio, wireless phone charging, and faux leather trim on the center console and armrests.

Additional safety features include a top-view camera system, front and rear parking assist, vehicle exit warning, and rear traffic alert.

The flagship Prestige trim also adds variable LED headlights with a high laser beam, animated front and rear lights, heads-up display, navigation, 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, and traffic sign recognition.

Basic premium can be upgraded with the $1,800 Convenience Plan. It adds features such as driver’s seat memory function, SiriusXM, advanced keyless start/stop, and rear traffic warning. That’s it for the extras on this derivative.

The mid-range Premium Plus offers more options and includes a Convenience Package as standard. Here, you can get the Navigation Pack for $1,500 or the Black Optic Plus plan for $2,000.

The latter adds 19-inch wheels with all-season tires, exterior trim and black badges, and red brake calipers.

Another great option is the S-line interior package for $500, adding brushed aluminum inlays, leather/Dinamica upholstery, and stainless steel pedal caps. You can also equip a B&O sound system for $950.

Prestige offers all these extras in addition to the improvements to the audio and navigation system, which it already has.

The top two trims can each be specified with ventilated front seats for $800, though this feature can’t be specified if you also want the S-line interior package.

What Audi A5 Coupe Model Should I Buy?

With three trim levels to choose from, Audi makes it easy for new buyers to find the sweet spot. Prices range from $44,500 for the base model, which is cheaper than the BMW 4 Series Coupe and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, to $53,950 for the Prestige.

The base model shares the engine and transmission with the rest of the range, meaning you get a solid performance from the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. All A5 Coupes come with good technology and security systems, but if you want the most safety features, you’re better off sticking with one of the top two trims, which both have surround-view cameras and adaptive cruise control.

Premium Plus, however, has to be the best deal. For the price, you get important additions to the base model, such as an Audi virtual cockpit plus a 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, rear traffic assist.

2023 Audi A5 Redesign

Audi A5 Redesign 2023 Audi has pioneered luxury and sophistication since its inception. One of the prominent names in their lineup is the Audi A5; mostly an A4 with a sloping roofline. The midsize luxury coupe saw huge market acceptance and Audi started to mix it up with trucks.

Since SUVs took over the market, sedans and coupes have experienced a significant decline in market share. To counter this, most brands bring subtle changes to the design while keeping development costs to a minimum. This helped them release a relatively new model without a drastic price increase.

For the most part, there’s nothing concrete about the 2022 Audi A5. With the next-generation A4 rumored for 2022, the A5 is expected to get a redesign in 2023. That said, there’s been talk of Audi’s plans to discontinue the A5, although the news isn’t official.

There is little chance that Audi will redesign the A5. Although we are not sure about calculating the probability to a certain number. Sources point to the A5 remaining as for 2022 but who knows, maybe Audi could surprise us. The 2021 Audi A5 isn’t that bad. A dashing design with a sloping roofline adds to the sporty character of this coupe.

We think Audi can borrow design elements from the smaller A4 which receives substantial design upgrades for 2021 and carries many familiar design cues.

Overall, the A5 is a very elegant and stylish coupe. Choose the Sportback and you get comfortable seating for a few extra passengers along with added practicality. Both the RS5 and S5 are based on the same chassis as the A5.

However, to the untrained eye, it is difficult to see the difference between the A5 and S5. The front of the RS5 adorns the exclusive RS-style grille along with a more aggressive front bumper. The S5 on the other hand carries the A5’s understated look which makes it qualify as a sleeper.

The interior of the A5 is one of the simplest yet attractive designs. Audi however, wouldn’t bother changing any of that given the recent facelift the midsize coupe received. For 2022, expect the Audi A5 to bring the right interior parts, and maybe in 2023, we might see the interior revamped.

In terms of connectivity, the A5 gets a high-mounted 10.1-inch touchscreen. The system can also be operated via voice recognition and steering wheel control, but the intuitive rotary controller on the center console has been changed.

2023 Audi A5 Exterior

Just because the A5 is based on the A4, don’t think it’s the same Audi with a different treatment beyond the B-pillar. Granted, they are similar and unmistakable to Audi, but the A5 has a slightly different hood.

The coupe is a regular 2-door/hardtop model. The cabriolet has several doors and a fabric roof. When the roof is lowered, the body is completely folded so that the exterior design remains neat.

And the A5 Sportback is a 4-door model with a sloping roof that houses a hatchback. The S5 and RS 5 variations have extra aerodynamic additions and quad exhaust outlets. Each iteration is sleek and stylish.

Audi also offers a Black Optic package for most of the range. Things like the grille, the mirror housing, the wheels – and even the roof – are all finished in Batman’s preferred colors.

2023 Audi A5 Interior

Audi is sticking to what’s best with the A5 Coupe. At first glance, the interior looks restrained yet classy, and once seated, you get a feel for how user-friendly the space is.

All controls are easily accessible to the driver, and if you’re used to Audi’s rugged build quality and use of soft-touch, quality materials, you won’t be disappointed here. Seating space at the front is plentiful but gets cramped at the back, as you can imagine.

The new 10.1-inch infotainment screen dominates the center of the dashboard and adds to the sleek overall look. Standout interior features standard across the range include three-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and heated front seats.

Stylish, modern, and well-built, the A5’s cabin is comfortable, at least for front-seat passengers — tight rear seats — and its design is sure to stand the test of time. The A5’s interior exudes quality from every panel.

In our Premium Plus test car, fine-grained, soft-touch plastic mixes with the textured aluminum trim. As you slide behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel, the motorized arms push the seat belt forward for easy reach from your left shoulder.

The seat bottom is narrow but provides enough comfort and support for long road trips, and the manual thigh extension should cater to the needs of long legs. They all look and feel beautiful when assembled, durable, and sturdy. The only attribute missing is a sense of luxury.

The armrests are thinly padded, while other high-end touches just disappear—like the heated rear seats or the power-adjustable steering wheel. The coupe’s roomy trunk and the flexible, foldable back seat back provide an unexpected amount of cargo capacity.

We also fit 16 carry-on luggage inside with the back seats folded. Too bad the various storage bins and storage boxes aren’t that useful. You’ll easily find a place for your smartphone, snacks, and other small items, but larger items like oversized water bottles will be left without a home.

Audi offers many of the standard infotainment features on all A5 models, including Bluetooth telephony and audio streaming, power outlets, and USB connectivity.

The 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen is a floating element above the A5’s dashboard and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Navigation is optional, as is the 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Interior Seating and Space

The Audi A5 isn’t a 4-door or Sportback, so your space is limited. The Audi A5 Coupe can only accommodate four adults, which is on par with competitors like the BMW 4 Series.

Seat comfort is excellent: Audi has designed the front seats that are supportive and comfortable and should be proven to support long journeys.

The seating position for the driver is good and feels sporty. Headroom at the front and rear is on the narrower side, but six-foot-tall passengers can still manage it.

There’s plenty of legroom up front, but with just 32.7 inches of legroom at the back, larger adults will start to complain.

At least getting in and out of the A5 Coupe is easy enough, but then again, bigger passengers have to squeeze the rear. Good visibility at the front but reduced to the rear.

  • Seating capacity 4 seats
  • Forefoot Room 41.3 inches
  • Front Headroom 37.4 inches
  • Rear Legroom 32.7 inches
  • Back Headroom 36.1 inch

Interior Colors and Materials

In the US, all trim levels come with standard leather seats, which signify the A5 Coupe’s premium status.

The base model comes standard with your choice of Atlas Beige upholstery with Granite Grey, Black, Okapi Brown, or Rock Gray stitching with more modest Granite Gray stitching.

These colors are paired with the standard Gray Oak Natural Wood inlay. The mid-range Premium Plus offers the same options but offers a $500 S line interior package with brushed aluminum finish, stainless steel pedal caps, and mixed leather/Dinamica upholstery.

Opting for the $2,000 Black Optic Plus package on this trim features a dark Aluminum Ellipse finish.

2023 Audi A5 Convertible

Based on the A4 sedan, but with fewer doors and a cropped roof, the 2022 Audi A5 Cabriolet is a luxury drop-top powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot for the new year. The power plant sends 261 horsepower to all four wheels as standard via Audi’s Quattro system.

You can expect a spacious cabin clad in premium materials regardless of the trim you choose: only one factor ensures the Audi A5 cabriolet is an undeniably strong competitor in this segment. This is despite the healthy competition from the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Convertible and BMW 4 Series Convertible.

It may not be the sportiest, but what it lacks in that sensation makes for comfort. If you’re wondering whether the A5 Cabriolet deserves a spot on your shortlist, it does. It includes very close to the peak.

Changes to the Audi A5 Convertible 2022: How is it Different from the Audi A5 Convertible 2021?
Last year, the A5 Cabriolet received a mild hybrid system and some specification changes, and this year, more 19-inch wheel options are offered and several other options have been consolidated into a slimmer package.

More monthly subscription services have also been added. Other than that, the 2022 A5 Cabriolet remains largely unchanged.

  • The powerful four-cylinder turbo engine
  • Tremendous fuel savings
  • Neat interior
  • Standard all-wheel drive

Interior Seating and Space
One of the biggest advantages of the Audi A5 in this segment is its neat interior. Every inch is covered in top-grade soft-touch material, and there’s no visible trace of cost-cutting inside. Front seat passengers are greeted with plenty of legroom in terms of legroom, but rear passengers won’t be so lucky.

But, of course, it won’t be as empty as its 4-door sibling, the A4. As for headroom in both aspects, there’s a really easy way to get access to an unlimited amount of goodies – just drop the top. Heating power-adjustable eight-way front seats are standard across all trim levels.

  • Seating capacity 4 seats
  • Forefoot Room 41.3 inches
  • Front Headroom 38.3 inches
  • Rear Legroom 33.1 inches
  • Back Headroom 36.3 inches

Audi A5 Convertible Exterior: No Hardtop Here
The Audi A5 Cabriolet is one of the most attractive options in this segment. The aggressive look of the front can be seen from the large honeycomb Singleframe grille with razor-sharp LED headlights located on both sides.

Elegant lines direct us to the rear of the cabriolet, where a set of chrome exhaust outlets blends seamlessly into the diffuser. A pair of sleek LED taillights including a dynamic rear indicator. All three trim levels sit on a set of 18-inch V-spoke wheels as standard.

There is no hardtop option for the Audi A5 Cabriolet, with the A5 sporting the standard black folding soft-top. With a clear focus on luxury over performance, no S line kit is available for the drop-top A5, but a variety of paint colors are available to match the overall look.

The new Audi A5 Cabriolet is similar in size to its main rival in terms of exterior dimensions, measuring 184.9 inches long and 79.8 inches wide with the included mirrors. The low slung profile is achieved by combining these measurements with a height of 54.4 inches. All models have a curb weight of 3,979 pounds.

  • Long 184.9 inches
  • Wheelbase 108.8 inches
  • Tall 54.5 inches
  • Max Width 72.7 inches
  • Front Width 62.5 inches
  • Back Width 61.7 inches
  • Curb weight 4,045.0 lbs

Engine and Transmission
The A5 Cabriolet’s 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine produces 261 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque with the help of a mild hybrid system. It is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with no manual option available and is connected to a permanent Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The Cabriolet A5 delivers more than adequate levels of performance. In terms of output, it is on par with its competitors from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The Cabrio makes a run from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds according to Audi.

  • Machine 2.0L Turbo Inline-4 Gas
  • Transmission 7 Speed Auto
  • Drive chain AWD

2023 Audi A5 Sportback

Borrowing stylistic cues from the A5 coupe and four-door layout from the A4 sedan, the Audi A5 Sportback offers the best of both worlds. Its fastback style is tempting, but it hides a giant trunk which is a boon for the practical-minded buyer.

A pair of turbocharged four-cylinder engines are offered, and all models come standard with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Like the company’s two-door and four-door cousins, the A5 Sportback combines agile handling with a pleasant ride, making it a desirable choice for enthusiastic drivers.

The A5 Sportback’s cabin may lack the style and substance found in rivals like the Mercedes-Benz C-class or Genesis G70, but technophiles will be in heaven, as the car boasts a cool digital gauge display, plenty of connectivity features, and a host of driver assistance.

Sleek styling, large luggage space enhances practicality, vibrant driving dynamics.
Braking results were decent in our tests, squeezed headroom in the rear seats, not as luxurious on the inside as expected.
With the sweeping styling of the A5 coupe and the rear seat space of the A4 sedan, the A5 Sportback is the ideal compact Audi.

The A5 Sportback saw a few changes, but a new 19-inch wheel design is now available and 40 models can now be ordered with the Black Optic package, which covers most of the car’s exterior trim.

Opting for the S-line trim adds a sports suspension and leather and suede upholstery.

2023 Audi A5 Interiors

The A5 Sportback’s cabin isn’t quite as luxurious as some luxury brands might expect, but all the materials are top quality, the fit and finish are excellent, and there are enough advanced features to steer it away from the mainstream sedan.

2023 Audi A5

The rear-seat passenger space isn’t as extensive as the Audi A4 sedan, but it’s roomy enough for two average-sized adults—and with a little sacrifice in rear headroom, you get the A5 Sportback’s sleek roofline, which is much sexier than its more angular and angular sibling. upright.

All A5 Sportback models are equipped with luxury necessities such as powered front seats, leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting, and three-zone automatic climate control.

A hatchback in disguise, the A5 Sportback’ The sloping rear roofline hides the power-operated liftgate and large cargo space, making it much more practical than the Audi A4 sedan or A5 coupe and convertible.

It proved its mettle in our carry-on tests by accommodating 16 suitcases despite having a small cargo area according to the numbers. The Sportback beat all of its direct competitors in our real-world cargo test.

Audi’s MMI is one of the most fun-to-use infotainment systems among premium brands. This is made even better with the optional 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display—and highly recommended—the A5 Sportback.

All models are equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen which can also be controlled with a click wheel mounted on the console between the driver and front-seat passenger.

Audi’s MMI interface is easy to use on the go, but Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration is standard if users prefer to interact directly with their smartphone.

Navigation is optional and comes with access to a series of internet and vehicle connectivity features called Audi Connect Prime and Audi Connect Plus.

For, the A5 Sportback can be had with two turbocharged four-cylinder powertrains, both using a 12-volt hybrid system. The model wearing the 40 badges produces 201 horsepower while the 45s model pumps out 261 horsepower.

All-wheel drive is standard and all A5 Sportbacks come with a seven-speed automatic transmission. We haven’t tested either model yet, but the last generation car with the more powerful engine delivered 5.0 seconds from zero to 60 mph.on our test track.

The A5 Sportback is quiet, confident, and easy to drive quickly through corners; that’s all a modern sports sedan should be.

Its agility belies its comfort too: Potholes and broken curbs don’t bother it much, especially when equipped with the optional adaptive suspension.

The well-weighted steering feels natural in the driver’s hand, and the front tires respond immediately to input, making this Audi a pleasure to drive on twisty asphalt.

2023 Audi A5 MPG

The EPA estimates the A5 Sportback will deliver up to 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

However, we weren’t able to evaluate real-world mpg until we ran it on the 75 mph highway fuel-efficient route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen.

While we haven’t tested the 2021 A5 Sportback on our real-world highway fuel-efficient routes, the older model we evaluated delivered 34 mpg during that test. For more information on the A5 Sportback’s fuel economy, visit the EPA website.

2023 Audi A5 Price

We love the mid-range Premium Plus. It adds many features to justify its price increase, including Audi’s trick Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display. We’d also suggest the much more powerful 45 model, which has 261 horsepower versus the 201’s 40s.

  • Premium 40 $44,545
  • Premium 45 $46,645
  • Premium Plus 40 $49,445
