Tata Motors launched the facelift of the Nexon in 2020. So, the manufacturer would need to update the Nexon in the coming years. Here, we have a rendering done by Shubhajit Dixit and the images have been shared on Instagram. The artist has rendered the front and the rear of the compact SUV.
The artist has entirely changed the front of the Nexon. It gets a new rugged bumper with a silver skid plate. There are tri-arrow elements in the air dam and a new piano-black grille that connects the new LED headlamps which do come with LED Daytime Running Lamps. We can also see LED foglamps.
There is a new set of alloy wheels. The outside rearview mirrors have the turn indicators integrated. Moreover, they are finished in black colour just like the roof. The rest of the compact SUV is finished in blue colour. So, the artist has used a dual-tone paint scheme for the rendering.
Then we come to the rear of the next-gen Nexon. The rear has been rendered in a combination of green and black. Some people still do not like the rear of the Nexon. However, we expect that Tata would fix that with the next generation. It no longer has a curvy design, there are new LED tail lamps that have a split design. There are reflectors placed in the bumper and there is a skid plate also.
Having said that, it is important to note that the rendering is based on the imagination of the artist. The final production-spec next-gen Nexon will look different than the rendering.
More powertrains of Nexon coming
Tata Motors is working on more powertrains for the existing Nexon. There would be a CNG version of the Nexon which should launch in the coming months. The manufacturer has already launched the CNG versions of the Tiago and Tigor. It will come with the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, while running on CNG the power outputs will decrease. The CNG tank would be placed in the boot. The Nexon CNG would be going against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza CNG which has also not been launched in the market yet.
The homegrown manufacturer is also working on a hybrid setup for the Nexon. The hybrid system has been under development for quite some years now. It is not known whether it will be a mild-hybrid system or a strong hybrid system. The hybrid system comes with batteries that help in taking some load off the engine. So, it provides torque assist and the batteries are able to drive the wheels instead of the engine. So, this helps in increasing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
Some reports also say that Tata Motors is also working on a flex-fuel engine. However, not much is known about it. Moreover, a dual-clutch automatic gearbox is also expected for the Nexon in the future. The same gearbox will also do duty on the Altroz iTurbo.
