THE Ruroc Atlas 4.0 motorcycle helmet has been announced, with a launch date of February 18th at 00:01. The new helmet has been massively updated over the previous Atlas 3.0, with changes inside and claiming to improve the lid on all fronts.
Outwardly, the new Atlas 4.0 looks very much like the previous version. Same modern lines and Stormtrooper style, although the eagled eyed will notice the removal of the top-mounted vents that were in place on the 3.0.
Instead of the three vents mounted on the top of the lid, now there is only one closable vent, mounted on the forehead of the helmet. It’s a sensible step, as anyone who rode in the rain with the previous helmet will vouch for the occasion drip that would get through.
The changes to the 4.0 should not just improve the wet weather performance of the lid, they should also go some way to help to reduce wind noise at speed. Alongside the new smoother exterior, new sound dampening inserts have been introduced around the ears. The new inserts are claimed to improve acoustic performance by as much as 20 percent.
On the comfort front, the Ruroc Atlas 4.0 has also been updated, with the internals of the helmet being updated for 2022. The revised cheek pads of the new helmet also feature an innovative zip adjustment feature, claimed to allow the pads to be tailored to your face. It also means the fabric can be removed from the foam padding prior to washing.
Ruroc Atlas 4.0 exceeds ECE 22.06 certification
At the heart of the updates to the 4.0 is a new three-part multi-density EPS structure, that increases impact and rotational performance helping the helmet to achieve ECE 22.06 certification.
The new helmet also features Rheon armour, located around the EPS liner. It’s a design feature of some of Ruroc’s ski and snowboard helmets, so it’s no surprise to see it being introduced on its road-based offerings. It’s a reactive polymer, that remains soft and flexible when in its natural state but stiffens dynamically on impact to dissipate energy.
As mentioned, the Ruroc Atlas 4.0 launches February 18th at 00:01 UK time.
